Punta Gorda, Belize
Punta Gorda in coastal Toledo district on the Gulf of Honduras in known for its Maya and Garifuna cultures and is a gateway to Gulf fishing and to agricultural production including banana, coconut, sugar cane, rice, teak wood, and spice plantations. The town of 6,400 residents had markets, schools, churches, taverns, inns, and the Blue Belize Boutique B + B, with Sugar and Spice, the deck dogs. The town’s air terminal provides the nation’s southern public landing strip with Tropic Airlines a link to the nation as well as to Guatemala.
