Branford, FL
“…down on the Suwannee River…” Located on US27 and US129, Brandord, FL is nested on the East banks of the Suwannee River and once was named Rowlands Bluff, a port city for freight and passenger travel on the river. The city was renamed by Henry Plant for his hometown in Connecticut and the path of his railroad along the banks of the river has now become the 12.5 mile Suwannee River Greenway, offering biking and hiking fun that passed the historic town train station.
The town of 720 (2020) is regionally noted for cool springs flowing into the river, boat launching sites, river side picnic parks, and cave diving.
Brandord hosts banks, specialty stores, Sister’s Cafe, Scaff’s IGA Market, Hatch Athletic Park, dive shops, friendly taverns and is th ehome for the Branford Middle/High School Buccaneers, who make Friday Night Lights a cultural festival!
